What is an MCP server?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard from Anthropic for connecting AI clients to external tools and data. An MCP server exposes tools that Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and others can call directly inside any chat — no plugins, no copy-paste, no glue code.
Do I need an API key?
No. The TranscriptMagic MCP server uses OAuth 2.1. You sign in once with Google when you connect, and the AI client stores its own short-lived token. Nothing to copy, paste, or rotate.
Which clients work with this server?
Any client that supports remote MCP over Streamable HTTP — Claude Desktop, Claude.ai, ChatGPT (deep research), Cursor, Claude Code, Continue.dev, and others. Adding a new client doesn't require any change on our side.
How much does it cost?
Free credits are included on signup. After that, 1 credit per successful transcribe_* call. The free utility tools (get_credit_balance, list_recent_transcripts) don't consume credits. See the pricing page for plan details.
What's the server URL?
https://mcp.transcriptmagic.com/mcp — paste it into your MCP client. A browser tab opens for OAuth, then the tools become available in any chat.
Can agents I build with the Claude Agent SDK use it?
Yes. The server is a standard remote MCP endpoint, so anything that speaks MCP over Streamable HTTP can use it — including the Claude Agent SDK, OpenAI Responses API tools layer, and custom orchestration code. For non-MCP integrations, use the REST API.
